I completed the Business Professionals Course (BPC) from The Aji Network in September of 2008. 2 years of intensive study into the fundamental mechanisms and philosophy of what it means to be in business, to be human, and how to design superior offers, narratives, practices and strategies based on those distinctions, philosophies, ethics and knowledge. Working the course for those 2 years and the immersion with that powerful group of people, both the instructors and classmates, I saw a significant increase in my skills and ability to manage and grow my team. We continued to hit higher and higher sales and growth targets year over year.
After completing the original course and not practicing the discourse on a regular basis, it didn’t take long to realize how quickly I was losing my ability to fully stay in the moods, distinctions, and practices required for top 1% performance. The phrase I first heard in the BPC: “co-ontological structural coupling” had new meaning for me as did the words they spoke at the graduation conference: ”the end of your education, is the end of your career”.
2 years later, and after working in the Aji Space (a newer remote/web-based delivery offer from the Aji Network) for the past 11 months, I have noted a return to the rigor and disciplined approach that I and my team are in; exceeding new growth and sales targets, taking care of our customers in innovative and highly successful new ways, lowering our costs while expanding our capacity.
My team’s above-average growth and profitability in arguably the worst economy in the country over the past 5 years (Michigan/Detroit) is a testament to the value and the return on investment I’ve continued to realize by utilizing the Aji Space as a practice of recursive learning to deepen one’s knowledge.
Like a martial arts student may study with a master over several years to gain further and further knowledge and skills, I have found the Aji Space to be a structure for students to remain in the discourse and competitive learning practices taught by The Aji Network. With the Aji Space as an offer of help, I will continue to hone and refine my skills in constructing superior offers, practices, narratives and strategies, building powerful business networks, all for the purpose of taking care of life’s concerns, and living a good life now and into the full foreseeable future (beyond retirement and old age).
